Lapis Lazuli is not a pure mineral but a mix with different minerals. It's a rock with lazurite, pyrite and calcite presence.

Color :
Opaque deep dark blue color often with golden inclusions and whitish marble veins. The small inclusions with their golden shimmer, are not of gold as people used to think, but of pyrite. Their cause is iron. The blue color comes from sulphor content of the lazurite.
Locality :
Afghanistan, Chile, Russia, Siberia, Angola, Burma, Pakistan, India, California and Colorado (USA) , Canada.
Origin :
The word "LAPIS" is the latin word for stone. The word "LAZULI" came from the persian word - "lazuward" which means - blue. And so it is - Lapis Lazuli - "Blue Stone".
